CHRlogo-250x250 Spring is usually a busy time in the state’s garden centers. Customers are buying plants, but they are also looking for answers to their garden questions. Dr. Ayanava Majumdar, who leads the Alabama Cooperative Extension System’s Commercial Horticulture team says that many garden center and farmers’ cooperative store employees need additional technical training to be able to better answer their customers’ questions.

“Alabama Extension’s Certified Horticultural Retailer (CHR) Training Program provides just this type of technical training,” he says. “It is an intense and focused daylong workshop. Extension professionals provide basic and advanced horticultural training directly to employees working at home garden, landscape and retail centers.”
