The Tractor Supply Company (TSC) store in Opelika was recently recognized for winning the 4-H Paper Clover Regional Champion award. Of the 42 TSC stores in Alabama, Opelika's store was #1 in total Paper Clover donations. Opelika TSC store employees had 52 percent of all transactions include a 4-H Paper Clover purchase.

The store placed second among TSC stores having the highest transaction percentage in their region during the Fall 2013 Paper Clover promotion. The region includes TSC stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina. When a customer makes at least a $1 donation, their name is put on a paper clover, which is then posted on a wall in the store.

The 4-H TSC Paper Clover campaign is a nationwide, in-store fundraiser that benefits 4-H programming in the communities where a TSC store is located. The fall campaign raised more than $600,000 to support 4-H on the local, state and national levels. During the 12-day promotion, (Oct. 9-20), the Opelika TSC store raised $774 for 4-H programs in Lee County.

The national effort has provided direct support for local camps, after-school programs and other activities, and has funded scholarships to events where youth can explore their interests in everything from animal science to robotics.

In Lee County, the funds will be used to help pay transportation costs to summer camp, to fund county achievement programs and for an end-of-the-year recognition banquet for 4-H'ers and volunteers.

"Alabama 4-H is appreciative for the local support Tractor Supply Company is providing through the Paper Clover campaign," says Lamar Nichols, assistant director for 4-H and Youth Development with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System. "Alabama 4-H youth will benefit from the generosity of Tractor Supply customers, and the money donated will have a direct impact on youth in each community."
