Extension’s Jefferson County office has
a new County Extension Coordinator. Lisa Jones began work Nov. 2.
Jones, who is from the Birmingham
area, is an innovative and effective communicator with extensive experience in
community engagement. Throughout her career she has led local programs in
conjunction with national initiatives and evidence-based programming. She also has an outstanding
history of marketing communications, market analysis, complex project
management and staff leadership.
Jones has worked with community-
and faith-based nonprofits, and served in various leadership roles with the
YMCA of Greater Birmingham, which serves more than 90,000 individuals across
“Lisa has had a very successful
career in the City of Birmingham and Jefferson County. She brings a wealth of
knowledge to this position as well as a passion for service and a talent for
bringing people together to achieve impactful goals,” said Stan Windham,
Extension assistant director of program operations and innovations.
“I am excited about the opportunity
to join the Alabama Cooperative Extension team. There are so many ways to build
a stronger, healthier, more vibrant community through furthering the outreach
of our land grant institutions, Auburn and Alabama A &M.
Jones has a Bachelor of Arts Degree
in Communications from the University of Alabama and is working to complete a Master
of Science Degree in Health Care from Colorado State University. She also is a
certified YMCA Organizational Leader.
